Delray Beach, Fla. (Feb. 3, 2023) – InteleTravel announced today the company and its U.S. network of independent advisors reached a new record in the host travel agency’s 30-plus-year history with over $529 million in travelled sales in 2022.

The all-time high represents an increase of 113 percent over pre-pandemic sales in 2019 and 92 percent compared to total sales in 2021, both of which were previous records for the host travel agency originally established in 1991.

Breaking records

InteleTravel attributes its record-breaking growth to travel demand reaching new heights, travellers increasingly seeking the expertise of professional travel advisors, the host travel agency’s strong relationships with preferred supplier partners, as well as the company’s long-history in providing award-winning training and certifications, innovative technology, and marketing tools to support its network of advisors in their home-based travel businesses.

InteleTravel President and Co-Founder James Ferrara said, “Despite the pandemic, transitional years, inflation and economic headwinds, the independent advisor model has proven year over year to be the most powerful and resilient. Our combination of people and technology is the home of innovation and growth and is unmatched in travel distribution.”

All-inclusive boom

In 2022, InteleTravel’s land-based sales increased 204 percent over 2019 while experiencing a 68 percent growth over the previous year. InteleTravel is the number one seller for top land-based brands and preferred partners like Apple Leisure Group Vacations, Vacation Express, Delta Vacations, and American Airlines Vacations. InteleTravel’s top-selling destinations booked by its U.S. network of independent advisors last year included Cancun, Montego Bay, Punta Cana, Orlando, and Las Vegas.

“Since 2019, InteleTravel has tripled its sales among packaged vacations providers selling high quality experiences at all-inclusive resorts. Thanks goes to our talented advisors, and our partners who stepped up and helped us manage this tremendous growth,” said Dave Spinelli, Vice President of Industry Relations for InteleTravel.

The return of cruise

As most major cruise lines slowly returned to service midway through 2022 and bookings began tracking towards pre-pandemic levels, InteleTravel’s premium and luxury cruise line partner’s sales experienced a 20 percent increase over 2019. The host travel agency's top preferred suppliers in premium and luxury cruise sales include Azamara, Regent Seven Seas, Viking, Virgin Voyages, and Windstar.

With cruise demand rebounding and oceangoing ships returning to full capacity, InteleTravel anticipates another record-breaking year in 2023. The company established an incredibly strong build into the new year as consumers began planning vacations further ahead and the booking wave season started earlier than normal in September. By the end of last year, InteleTravel already had over 119 percent of its 2019 cruise business on the books for 2023.

“The company bounded into the first days of the New Year with advance bookings for 2023 totalling more than all of 2022,” said Ferrara.
